I don't know, it is above my pay grade and security clearance.
Do you think this would have worked out better if the withdrawal had occurred by the date that Trump negotiated with the Taliban, which was May 1st?
All fools know the Afghans do whatever you pay them to do then when the money runs out, they run out. 20:20 hindsight but we should have kept strength on the ground to protect our retreat. It seems so obvious now but it shows how incompetent the "leaders" in the white house now are. Trump was and is an ass but at least he knew how to use the big stick of our military... I doubt this debacle would have happened on his watch.

Actually, it seem to happen most everywhere... tell the rich, American politicians whatever they want to hear as long as they let you suckle on the taxpayer's teat.
Nice to see the usual suspects kicking around the political football.
About the only "winner" in this is us Libertarians who think and have said for ages this is mostly a waste of money.

Hard to believe I went to college in 1975 to study nuclear fission to help us gain energy independence from the corrupt Middle East... I switched to semiconductors when I found I could actually design and run my own experiments to build new things (optical communication devices like fiber optic links for the internet) while fission experiments cost billions back then... there was no way I could afford a PhD to get into line to work on fission experiments...

If we'd have put that $2T into safe nuclear power (Thorium), wind mills, solar, etc... we'd be a lot further along towards carbon neutrality and we'd have told the Saudis to kiss our asses long ago... right now we still kiss theirs. Shameful.
