Some simple thinking about this COVID thing.

I am going to make a few assumptions here. First is we Americans don't really know how many people are in this country. Latest census data is around 330 million citizens, but we know there is a significant cohort of noncitizens as well. So lets round total people count to 350 million for this mental exercise.

CDC data shows 623,244 deaths due to covid. That is a large number for an individual to grasp.

However compared to the total people count it is rather small. divide 623,244 by 350,000.000 you get roughly .00178 or .178 percent . That means 1 - .00178 = 99.82 % of the total people lived either without getting the disease or survived covid.

That is an impressive percentage of survivor plus avoiders. It is unfortunate for the 623,244 who did die, But even if you are sick with COVID you have a less than 2 tenths of a percent chance of dying from it. Now other personal factors may raise that like comorbidities.

But the simple fact is Covid is not a significant percentage killer. This is my perspective your mileage may vary.
