Yes it really sucks.

I believe many/most of the big companies create large groups of low risk, healthy individuals that they contract out for to the best bidders of insurance companies. Like charter schools finding excuses to not educate children with special needs or non English speakers or poor parents, the insured at the major companies are healthy enough to go to work every day. That leaves all those only healthy or reliable enough to work part time, perhaps driving Uber, etc... tossed into the pool with those of us who are self insured. We also had to pay for coverage for getting pregnant and other things "semi retired" in their 50s and 60s will need.. My basic insurance seemed to go up about 4x once they "diluted the pool" with all the hard to insure but mandated to get coverage without preexisting conditions. It is one reason I consider myself a Libertarian BUT am in favor of single payer, Medicare for All, health care because I know how the current system screws people like you and I.

FWIW, I've managed to move most of my trading into my ROTH and regular IRAs and took enough profits and paid the taxes some years ago so I can live on the savings plus newsletter income that also can be used to fully fund my ROTH... I know many others do the same so our insane system that rewards not working indeed causes many of us to not work as hard as we could.... so some of us waste far too much time online! LOL
