Right now we are very short of truckers. It pays a decent wage for only needing enough education to read road signs, follow maps on GPS devices and pass a driving test... basically be a typical 16 year old. On CNBC someone asked what they pay per hour and the CEO said $1600 to take a truck from Chicago to Los Angeles which is about a week round trip. You can listen to books on tape or chat with friends on the CB or cell phone too while "working." I wonder if people are not going into these jobs because they will be automated someday? My guess is automation for all this is still a long ways off.
As the work is more and more automated, the need for the number of people with important knowledge and critical thinking is reduced. Nothing is better for the ruling elite than a public that lacks the mental capacity to unseat them even if all the barriers were removed.
It wouldn't surprise me to learn a lot of these conspiracy theories take hold with pod casts and talk radio that truckers listen to plus discussions with friends while driving...
