You are probably right about the cost being water off a duck for most of the big names.

Also, it would be a smaller cut for Google than the about 6.2% of revenue or $3.80B to SBC (stock based compensation) they gave out in Q2 while paying $3.5B in income taxes.

It would be interesting to see how much they pay each quarter for payroll taxes and health care...
Dilution of equity via a modest market cap tax is much easier to tolerate. We wouldn't even notice. Companies already dilute their equity with stock grants, investors hardly care.

FWIW, I care as I track dilution AND SBC by quarter for my newsletter as part of my valuation calculations. But you are right that most trading on their phones can't even read a balance sheet with the important notes on such tiny screens even if they cared!
