I don't think you have to give up everything...just enjoy in moderation (i.e. quantity) and exercise. I still enjoy ice cream but limit myself to Breyer's Natural Vanilla which is only milk, cream and sugar, without all the other additives (just read some of those labels!). Occasionally I'll add chocolate sauce (toxic to dogs) but my dog keeps me from doing that because he loves to lick my bowl afterwards. He also demands exercise (5-6 miles daily) which takes about 2 hours but is both physically and mentally refreshing. I love our walks together and do this 365 days a year, rain and/or cold notwithstanding. I still manage to keep my BMI just below 25 and believe the mantra "You don't see many old overweight people".

If you use a different email address in the previous site, you can enter a hypothetical data set simulating your parents. The NML site was nice because it let you vary single parameters to see that effect on overall longevity. This feature is a great motivator to answer "What if I changed this habit".

My result was 105 but I don't believe this site is nearly as comprehensive as NML's, so I trust it less. Here's another site which resulted in 95 but it's even less comprehensive. However it does show how changing a few parameters can affect your overall result.

If you look around, you might one even better.
