The relevance is that media influences group think, it changes their political views. Most political views are noise. The important things that groups get right are "will this make my life easier?" or "will this help my kids or friends" or " will this, whatever it is, make me money ". Those little individual calculations on practical matters are what leads to a good collective decision.
