Bad analogy and poor logic. The equivalent would be grabbing your firearm and going to a zoo to protect a busload of school children hiding from the escaped bears that haven't been fed in awhile... then having a bear attack you so you shot it before it killed you.

If the bears stayed in their cages or if the looters stayed home watching Jeopardy, nobody would have died and nobody would have come to the "rescue" of the towns being looted.
