You were lucky your mother lived so long.

For about 10 years I took a neighbor to our 5x a year parties and local theater after she and her 2nd husband John moved into a retirement community in town when they turned 80. My GF didn't mind as she didn't like plays w/o subtitles... I started taking June when her husband couldn't hear the words anymore and kept falling asleep before he passed soon after they moved to the retirement community... I continued taking her to our theater group parties and plays right up until her final illness meant she was stuck in bed at age 94 and couldn't deliver the morning papers to the other residents. She loved to walk up to nearly the end and we had a nice walk between our last dinner together and the play. June and John were so kind... they'd host families with kids at Stanford Children's Hospital... so when they sold their home, I thought it was a nice way to repay them for their kindness. She was far too liberal for me so we had some interesting chats and she would not hesitate to tell me what was wrong with me... lol. Anyway, I probably should look for someone to be nice to again as you get so much more in return.
