If you read my post, you would see that I said: " In a way, the stock picker makes forecasts too based on the stocks he/she goes long/short."

First of all, I never met anyone who had a good enough track record of predicting the direction of the Market or major indices to take seriously. Secondly, it is very easy to not take forecasts seriously by just ignoring them or blocking them out or not taking them seriously. Again, my trades are based on probabilities, not forecasts. Are they speculative? Yes, to a point. But I am not forecasting anything when I make a trade.

Look at the market lately. My portfolio has gone up 1-2% while SPX has been down 1.5% and vice versa once in a while. In a massive market sell off, all boats will sink. But this is primarily a rotational market, been that way over the past year.

When I find a guru who can make forecasts that pan out more often than not, I will take heed.
