cThe government has only one function - the interest of the ruling classes. Where your interests are aligned with theirs, you will profit. When not, you will suffer. All the social welfare programs are there to prevent a popular revolt and keep the rich safe. Ditto for harsh prison sentences. And the same for foreign policy and everything else.

There are differences between various ruling class members just as there were differences between various nobel houses. Every administration favors some groups over the others. But all of these groups are more alike than different. So there are some policies that are consistent across the board.

And this is not something specific to the US. It is just easier to see in some countries than in others. For example in Saudi Arabia the ruling class is the House of Saud. But there are some 6000 princes there and none are equal. So you know that when Mr. Bone Saw says something it means more than what some other prince says. But when some prince speaks and it is not in conflict with what MBS says, then you'd better obey b/c even the smallest prince is a lot bigger than you.

This is very easy to see in part b/c there is not marketing and lobbying apparatus to fool the public into thinking they matter. And in part b/c as an outsider looking in you can see it more clearly than the Saudis can. But it is not that much different in the US. It is just the laws and policies are set such that obeying the law enriches the few. Edgar Bronfman put it simply as, "If you only have $100 in the bank, to make it $1000 is work. If you have $100M, becoming a billionaire is inevitable."

Anyways, I am done with this topic. You want a world as it is not. Your only recourse is to become politically (and radically) active. Complaining about it won't do you any good.
