When a lot of people are bullish on some market/sector/stock and yet it keeps going down, then it will make for a very bad buy. This was the core of my reasoning for staying away from BABA back in the summer even though I was originally staking it out as an investment. Every week there was some new article about what chance of a lifetime it is to be buying BABA. And every week it went lower. I began to wonder who will be left to buy it to push it up. And also what will they do when they recoup their losses. So I stayed away.

This type of logic applies equally on the way down as it does on the way up.
