Betty,

The nearest reasonably priced region in proximity to Marin County would be Vallejo in Solano County, then next county over. Vallejo has very good and very inhospitable parts. Traffic over two-lane Highway 37 (Vallejo-Highway 101-Marin County) can be a nightmare, and there is the Highway 37 Bridge, but it's something of a hybrid bridge, and there is no bridge toll (at least for now). There are also the commuter ferry boats from Vallejo to Sausalito and Tiburon, SF, and other Bay Area points. I am not familiar with public transportation within Marin County.

Perhaps some other of our Bay Area threadsters could suggest something.

Holly
