Ah, but in either case Bill would have KNOWN Nelvis "saw them alone", and so would have had the sense to qualify his statement on the subject. (Actually, I think I recall reading something to that effect: he said he really didn't remember whether they'd ever been alone, or the like.) Tell you the truth, I suppose I have or haven't been alone with people and don't really remember. If, though, I spent most of my time in my office and met people there, I'd probably answer such a question in the affirmative, as it's a perfectly normal thing to do.
