Build-A-Bear Workshop Sees Revenue Above Estimates

Build-A-Bear Workshop (BBW) reported 4th Quarter January 2022 earnings of $0.97 per share on revenue of $130.0 million. The consensus earnings estimate was $0.92 per share on revenue of $111.9 million. Revenue grew 38.8% on a year-over-year basis.

The company said it expects first quarter revenue of $91.7 million or more. The current consensus revenue estimate is $76.3 million for the quarter ending April 30, 2022.

Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc is a specialty retailer of plush animals and related products. It provides a "make your own stuffed animal" interactive retail-entertainment experience.

Nonetheless the stock dropped almost 30%. That filled my GTC buy order (which I had forgotten about). I sold it at a small profit on rebound. It may go up tomorrow, but I don't think bear markets try to be considerate to build a bear. It does not meet my investment criteria for having pricing power. Once the dust settles, I will reassess. For now I am happy with the lucky 5% gain I made on the day.
