Seems Newsweek is practicing somewhat responsible journalism as a result of the white house counter attack. I suspect that Harold Ickes is behind many of these leaks. It seems to have been his MO in the past, and Lanny Davis has actually bragged about pulling off the same stunt in imitation of Harold with other 'crisis'. Or so I have read.

One other thing, many of these leaks are probably phoned in, ie no verification that the person is who they say they are on the phone. Fairly easy to orchestrate, even with second source requirements, from either side of the case.
