Good Morning Kirk,

Full disclosure - I'm copying some work from a guy I think is brilliant when it comes to charts and market view - RIMSHOT:

Percentage of S&P 500 index stocks + S&P 500 industry sectors which
have component stocks that individually rest above their
20-day exponential moving average:

8.20% - all S&P 500 stocks
5.26% - XLK
0.00% - XLF
4.69% - XLV
10.00% - XLY
8.00% - XLC
5.63% - XLI
12.50% - XLP
76.19% - XLE
7.14% - XLB

We know energy is white hot but look at XLC - Communications. It appears the T and VZ have had a nice breakout and appear to be firming up.
Here in Howards Grove Wisconsin we have a phone company named TDS, Telephone and Data Services - they do a lot of rural phone systems, All last summer there were independent contractors installing Fiber through out the town. They do not have a lot of employees or equipment. All of the work being done installing the fiber was being done by older boom trucks with independent names on the sides and they even worked on Saturday and Sundays!
TDS pays an 18 cent quarterly dividend and at Fridays close it is $ 1.87 from its 10 year low and 23 cents from its 1 year low of 15.69. At Friday's close the annual dividend (72 cents) pays a solid 4.5%. TDS has been reducing its debt and is growing its profit.
I can vouch for there fiber service, it is very competitive at 39.95 a month and it is the fastest I have at both Wisconsin and Houston.
I have bought some of their U and V prefered shares which pay 6.5 % and 6.625%.
I'm thinking this downturn is long in the tooth and TDS could pay us to wait (@4.5% yield )and have a nice recovery. with XLC being a bit of a break out leader(with 10% of its components above the 50 day average), the two big guns of T and VZ may drag TDS along with it.

Any thoughts?

Bob

Edit TDS pays a dividend of 18 cents and goes EX dividend on 6/14 next week
