I love that black diamond skiing analogy!

At the top of a bull market everyone thinks they are great skiers then when the fit hits the shan, they get to the top of the run in a blizzard and can't see the where the icy bumps are filled with soft snow.

I'm not a fan of paying taxes and I like to see compounding so I often get limited by how much I'm willing to sell and too slow or stubborn to explore hedging strategies in the IRAs other than occasional home runs like buying a strip zero treasury fund in 2000 to offset the taxable gains in stocks.

I'm impressed by the gains you show in your long portfolio and how you don't own standard stocks with it. Do you have a core portfolio with asset allocation for assuring your long-term wealth remains or do you still trade like a 30-something, all in?
