I think the requirements for the job is a driver license and some maybe a GED. I see it as a good way to employ people who might not have the mental horsepower to operate in some major areas... I'm not sure of the business aspect of the post office other than most State jobs in CA and other blue states operate at a huge loss if you account for the underfunded pension promises that scam taxpayers.

Or if you look at how piss poor most government programs operate as a business, including the education and health care industries, the post office at least delivers the mail in a fairly reliable way.
