Most people don't realize this, but it is the Maslow version of hierarchy of markets is Currency > Treasuries > Credit > Bonds > Equities. In other words, equities are the tip of the iceberg. A small wiggle in lower layers translates into huge swings into the top. We've had a 20+% move in currencies and a 40% move in treasuries/bonds. The equities have been in denial. They have some catching up to do.

I stayed up till 3am after the Fed hike to watch the carnage in currency markets. It was a force of nature that is still rippling through.
