Back in the very late 1980s or early 1990s I predicted and sort of coined the term "War of the Presses" as in "War of the Roses."

It maybe how this experiment in democracy ends. Just look at any Fed hearing and the congress critters who represent constituents with low savings want more QE and low rates as long as inflation isn't too high like it is now... They'd love 4% inflation a year so their people could get 4 or 5% raises and think they were doing a good job.

It also led to my decision to get three loans to buy the best piece of land in the Silicon Valley I could afford rather than gold so I could enjoy living on it as it appreciated. Tuesday will be 28 years here and I think my property taxes and remaining interest payments on my loan wouldn't rent a room in an apartment here. I also put the money to pay off the loan in IBonds so I'm paying 3.375% while earning 10% or so on those iBonds.

The stocks I bought to also benefit from that massive, hidden inflation that they lied about all the way up... have done really well too even with their current declines.
