I don't know all the nitty gritty details off hand but there is anecdotal evidence of shortages, particularly with respect to retail products.
1 ounce gold eagles are quoted at spot + $150.

The paper market in gold and silver has severely disconnected from the physical market from time to time.
I believe we are witnessing another major disconnect.
Exceptional strength in the US dollar is masking the underlying conditions.

Miners very often lead the way - GDX closed today with a beautiful bullish engulfing candle on the weekly chart; up over 10% from Monday's 2 year low.

Bad week for the S&P500 but most energy and material stocks registered gains - GDX, XLE, COPX, URA, VALE, RIO, TECK, FCX, .............
