Disability payments up 8%... how many do you know who've abused this system and could find a job if they had to but don't? I'm quicker to blame the punishing tax and benefits systems in Taxifornia. Low income families in CA have access to a TON of benefits that fall off as they make more money. The Fed isn't much better, especially if you are over age 65 on Medicare and still working. I did a calculation that showed if you made an extra $1,000 to kick you into the second tier of Medicare charges, $92K I think, then you pay an additional $1,500 give or take in taxes and fees.
