I looked this up for you. As of May 2021 there were 145 million people employed in CA. In fiscal year 2021 the state of CA collected 248.19 billion in total tax revenue. That's under $2k per employed person in taxes. Utah where I live, one of the most conservative states. 1,673,000 people employed. Total tax revenue collected 14 billion. That's $8300 per employed person.
