Because the US is a tribal society where the people don't know what they want or why. They just want to make the other side suffer. You don't believe me? Research shows that by default people want intelligent educated leaders. Except when the other side is viewed as the educated one, in which case suddenly having degree/intelligence/culture/whatever becomes a liability and they will vote for a "folksy" person who is as different from the other side as they can imagine him to be. The facts be damned, I just hate the other side! >> I don't know why this became such a partisan issue.
