James, Your points about treating Clinton with some degree of decency are admirable. I would guess that they are also well understood by most of the contributors here.
The problem I have is also related to decency. For me, it began when our President stood on his platform, wagged his finger in our face and told us he didn't lie and he didn't have sex with that woman. Then he would not provide any further explanation or substantiation for his claims of innocence. As far as I'm concerned, he has through these actions and subsequent actions, given up his right to respect from me. I now believe that his mandated claims were lies. Also, the longer he plays political games with this issue, the longer and more difficult it will be to earn back the respect he has lost. He needs to come clean real quick if he has any hope of surviving.
Our country allows us to challenge our leaders. I, and I suspect many others, will continue to challenge any leader who appears to be a morally bankrupt liar. This issue will not go away. And it's not, as Hillary and company suggests, just a right wing conspiracy. We have all manner of people with similar standards of moral behavior. Decent people that are doves and decent people that act like bulldogs. Decent bulldogs from both the right and left are not going to allow this to just disappear.
In reality, your calls for decent behavior on our part is really very similar to our calls for decent behavior from our President. |
