But you disagree that rape is humiliating to the victim? Come on.
Rape is an act of violence. Is it "humiliating" for a man to be mugged, or shot? Traumatizing, yes, but my GOD there's no reason to feel HUMILIATED! It's not the woman's problem, it's the MAN'S problem. I find this kind of transference disturbing. And we've seen quite a lot of it on the thread: Monica, poor thing, is a Victim, because that's the Female Role, evidently. I find it utterly deplorable that women who call themselves "feminists" buy into this rubbish. If women are to be "equal" to men, as is only right, they should stop whining and refrain from going all Victorian-weak-in-the-knees when problems arise.
I'm not, obviously, countenencing or condoning male violence against women. Men, most, are physically stronger, and tend also to be more aggressive. But sorry. If women want to deal with their lives, and yours, on equal terms, they have to grow up. Fortunately, the women of my generation have pretty much accomplished this. I worry, though, about today's twenty-somethings. |
