J. Edgar Hoover was considered a great hero in his own time. One thing that was always drummed home to us on the streets was that he ran under a lean and mean budget and stayed within it and he always got his man. Of course, they told us other things too, and we believed it all . . . then.

Anthony Summers has written an excellent book on J. Edgar Hoover, but can't think of it's title just now. Summers has also written one of the better books on the JFK assassination, "Conspiracy."
