Hi Bob,

Did you see Hannity's interview with Newsome?

No, sorry.
His claim that Texas taxes more than California doesn't hold water. (IMO)
He probably needs his kids to push the buttons on his calculator to do the math. He's a tool, not a high IQ guy.
That being said, my real estate taxes are high vs valuation. Hard to say they are overall high as California's property values are very high vs. Texas valuations.
Your Texas house in my city (and no lake front...) would be $6M to $8M and get taxed at ~1.2% (1% plus add-ons) and go up 2% a year max and if there is a period of deflation, they use that to catch up.

We have libs complaining about paying $36K a year when their geezer neighbors pay $12K a year... while they ignore the new houses built with massive underground living space to fit our zoning requirements pay double what they pay.
Sales tax is 8.5% on prepared food (not on staples flour/butter/sugar) and most other things.
Sales tax here is 9.125%... 10.25% in Oakland but only 8.625% in SF. Prepared food is taxed so the government gets tax when I buy the $5 chicken at Costco... and quite a bit when I buy nice lunches out.
Our real estate taxes get frozen when the first person in a household reached 65 years of age.
That is cool.. so if you are not taxed out before you reach 65, then you are cool. Also, it encourages you to invite parents to live with you, no?
Newsome is a very smooth person. He smiles as he uses words to bend the truth.
Newsom is as slimy as they come. Like many, he has SOME good ideas. Letting people marry who they love in SF was a step ahead of the trend so he can claim political fame in a place where it would only help his political status given SF was the center of the gay universe before he was born.
Another dangerous politician!

Name one that isn't!
