I don't think they sealed the cardboard jackets at all. In new condition, the paper liner
containing the record would not easily fall out, and of course the paper liner's opening
was turned 90 degrees so the record itself could not fall out of the jacket either.


I believe they used cellophane since the inception of albums. That is how I recall it.
