those 900 FBI files almost as soon as he got into the White House. What an insurance policy!

I rather doubt he needed them. In D.C. the sexual adventures of politicians tend not to be all taht secret. What astonishes me about people in public life is that as much as they gossip about everyone else, they often seem not to imagine that anyone gossips about them. Funny.

And to return to cocaine and morphine (or opium) for a moment: let's not forget Sherlock Holmes. "Quick, Watson! The needle!" But come to think of it, what exactly did Sherlock use? I don't think they'd figured out how to freebase coke back then, and laudanum scarcely stimulated the mental processes.
