yes, a tad more...it was an unholy alliance if it was anything.
Unholy, but also farcical: remember the Bible and the cake sent as gifts to Rafsanjani? Soooooo embarrassing. But so much worse to try to imagine who might have thought this was a Good Idea, and who else said: OH YES, GO FOR IT! And then we get pissed off because people laugh at us.
And Ollie North? Who among us is more comical than Ollie, with his paranoid fantasies? (Ghaddafi was out to get him. Personally. Sure. Fawn, maybe, but not Ghaddafi.)
But once again we return to paranoia. What's gone wrong with us? Why are people who lead perfectly ordinary lives, and who've never been seriously threatened, so very convinced that Someone Is Out to Get Them? I mean this as a real question. I don't understand it. I've lived in cities for nearly all of my adult life, I was mugged once, big deal, didn't like it, my life could be better than it is (whose couldn't?), I've suffered what I consider to be the occasional injustice, but I don't feel They are plotting against me.
I really don't understand. |
