2023 turning out to be the lump of lumps for me in the market. If this was fourteen years ago, when I first
retired, I am sure I would be more than disappointed in myself. At that time I was thinking future income would
be important. My how things change.

If 2023 has shown me anything, if you have enough, money is one of the least important things in life.

My sister called me twice this week, offering to sleep on the floor, if only she could come here and stay. I have
a bedroom for her, but could never take the mental stress of her and my mother at the same time, especially
with mom seemingly getting worse by the week. Only the tip of the sword for the week, that had a long blade.

Knowing my girls will inherit my IRA, giving it a minimum of ten years from here, makes it easier to take, but
it doesn't fix me not realizing what interest rates would do to solar stocks in the short term.

At this point it is water under the bridge.

Humans are funny. Never had a pm saying, you are really kicking the markets a$$, but now have had a third
person say that maybe I should go back to dividend stocks. Not surprisingly, all are dividend people.
Regardless of my short term failing, with this being for my girls in future years, I don't think so.

Here is something just for my three "friends", and something I will track going forward. Unlike them, I have a
record to look back at.

Have I shortchanged my girls from moving to growth?

Where the pivot from dividends to mostly growth started, December 31st, 2018: Dividend investing for retirement Message Board - Msg: 31963387 (siliconinvestor.com)

Account value: 12/31/2018, $278,537.67. Account value as of today: $573,973. 106%.

When I run the back test here: Backtest ETF Portfolio - ETFreplay on SPY, from Dec. 31st 2018, until today,
the gain is 77.7%.

Regardless of how I have messed up in the short term, the long term trailing the S&P comes from the time
in dividends, not since the pivot away from them.

Friday for my "friends", lol:
