As someone who uses a lot of olive oil, I have been watching these developments with alarm.

I remember seeing olive grown in California -- particularly the billboards along the highway proclaiming "Only 300 miles to the home of the world famous Oliveburger' -- which makes me wonder if climate change will open up new areas for production even as it attacks the traditional growing areas. The difficulty is that it takes years to establish an olive grove and bring it through to production.
