<< Took econ in school.>>

Kool.

Looks like you haven't over specialized in your education. A promising sign.

The way I look at it is: We are on the Star ship Earth, a small spaceship moving through the universe.

How, exactly, does planet Earth move through the Universe? - Big Think

Room on the Starship is constrained, it has full support systems for the crew, but systems need monitoring and occasionally fixing. It's a complex ship, and best not start messing with systems unless you really know what you are doing.

All we need is a competent crew, (who don't fight amongst themselves for a start) and who know how to run a spaceship. A captain isn't really needed, already here, and as according to your religious belief. We shall just use the loose term "The big guy" for arguments sake.

Now, forgive me for saying so, but I think your engineering knowledge is a little rudimentary. I know your keen! don't get me wrong... most problems are actually solvable. Don't listen too much to the naysayers !!!

However you cant just go at this type of problem randomly. Like saying "Superfunds are a mess". There are key issues why that is so, such as corruption. If you look at Japan, they screwed up bad there with nuclear energy. I used a more structured approach. Only a start mind you. Lots more detail to fill in.

I get it your into saving the planet and "clean energy", most youngsters are. We are all on the same side there, no worries.

But there are trade off to be made. First you need to define the problem, then measure it, review the problem, and finally propose solutions. You then measure the solutions effectiveness and continue the process.

Take the example of global ( and local) pollution. This is a good example to start with. Doren came up with a real life problem. Coal. I proposed a solution to actually fixing the problem using a Pareto approach. I hope you are able to understand the concept I am sharing here, the Pareto bit is the real key point... all the rest is padding I added to awaken Doren's interest in the matter.

You take the biggest problem first, and fix that intelligently. Now, an aside, most of our stuff gets made in China, and the reason for that is the big biz and government guys don't know the first thing about Deming. If they listened to his first principle the would get a clue. Until that happens we a literally pissing in the wind.

Is that clear? Let me know if you need further direction on that point.

If we in the West ever send a delegation to China and India to solve these serious problems, we need to get our ducks in order first. Show 'em we have the bases covered as it were, and we are no slouches. We do that by studying the problem as a whole and then assigning solutions in the appropriate order.

Am I making any sense here, or assaulting the senses? Sounds reasonable or what ??
