I remember cellophane being used on albums, also, Glenn. I have vivid memories of
sticking a paring knife into the side where the record came out, and slicing the
cellophane, and being very excited about listening to the new music.

Perhaps the people who have albums with price stickers on the jackets were buying them
used. I cannot otherwise account for that discrepancy in my logic.

Our recollection is identical. I also agree the cardboard edge was bent at a 90 degree angle but that was to keep the album in after the cellophane was removed. Some stores would permit one to open an album and listen to it prior to the purchase. If one did not purchase that album, the cellophane was then gone for the next purchaser.
