Dean, FT,

RE: Jeffersonian principles and the Taxpayers' Party:

There must be some parties out there which embrace those principles. Problem is finding them and separating them from a lot of the nut groups who just want some money. The Libertarians, Taxpayers', Perotistas, etc should all get together to form a truly viable third party, but they all have some strong feelings about minutiae which prevent them from coalescing into a party which might have enough power and votes to really boot out the entrenched powers. Perhaps there should be a national convention of third parties to get them to settle their differences and get together for the greater good.

Mr. Jefferson (as we Virginians are wont to call him) was indeed somewhat "radical". He would be in favor of radical reform of the present usurpation of the people's powers. Remember his saying, "The tree of liberty must from time to time be nourished with the blood of tyrants and patriots. It (blood) is its natural manure." Unfortunately the murderous Mr. McVeigh had that saying on his T-shirt and thus ruined forever Mr. Jefferson's saying. I don't want revolution or blood: I just want (by legal and democratic means) to replace the president, his cabinet, and the entire congress and senate with men and women whose loyalties are to the citizens and not to their special interests.
