Michael,

You are right. President Clinton avoided the war he thought was not righteous, but now he wants to send my sons to fight for a war against a country who is not threatening us. The last time I looked over at the Gulf of Mexico or Tampa Bay (where I live), I did not see any Iraqi warships loaded with invasion troops. Nor have I detected any missiles incoming to my home country from Iraq.

Now I have no love or admiration for Saddam Hussein, but, just to explore the other side of the coin, what gives the US the right to determine just which countries are responsible enough to produce and keep weapons of mass destruction? I am told that such weapons are in the possession of Russia, England, France, Israel, Pakistan, India, etc. Are we going to war with any of them?

And let us not forget that many wars are started for political cover and non-altruistic reasons. Could Monica Lewinski become "the face that launched a thousand ships?"<g>

Just some alternative thoughts.

Jack
