Re: NAZI Germany
I didn't mean to minimize the horror. What happened in Germany during WW II was not merely horrific, but it was History's all time most horrific crime against humanity.
Over the weekend the History channel aired their documentary series on the subject and I watched. The drift, as I saw it, was that Hitler was an inept opportunist. That the seemingly well organized veneer of the National Socialist German Workers' Party disguised an organization of ill defined offices with overlapping responsibilities. That, instead of a well oiled government machine, the Party was a feeding frenzy of turf battles and infighting. That decisions, more often than not, were made based on what the 'group think' opinion of Hitler's wishes were, because he was so reclusive, lazy, and self indulgent as to be unavailable most of the time.
However, your description of "well organized and EXECUTED very well" applies well to the German military. Too bad for them that they were strapped down by their most unrealistic expectation of leadership from a buffoon.
I apologize for my role in perpetuating this divergence in the thread... just couldn't let it go.
