It is ON Topic and I've been a strong supporter of using what we have until we have VIABLE alternatives including drilling for oil in CA as we know we'll do a cleaner, better job of drilling for NG and oil than the Russians or Chinese in some far off place we won't monitor. My Looney but lovable liberal friends here prefer to stick their heads in the sand and just be happy someone else has to deal with oil spills, etc...

Given the politics, I think it will be hard if not impossible to get new drilling in blue states so people like you who have supply already will do just fine... if you can afford to sit on it and wait to get a price that gives a nice profit.

As an investment though, I've done much better avoiding industries some in my state and others would like to see go bankrupt even if it meant millions more people on welfare... because of course those new government dependants would have to vote for them to get more handouts.

The point of the article is it looks like the big consumers of power for AI are already skating to where the puck is going and working to secure clean power. Of course that will force cities and states to pay even more to "stay clean" or admit there were wrong and build more NG peakers to meet demand.
