And you are right. To quote the late great Leonard Cohen,

“I raise my glass to the Awful Truth, which you can't reveal to the Ears of Youth, except to say it isn't worth a dime”

Marcus elaborated on his point that whether or not people will remember him after his death is immaterial because he is dead and won't be able to feel anything about it.

But your point is valid. One should not say such awful truths to the young!
