That would be fine since it is the government saying what it is willing to pay for Medicare, one of the largest customers. Why not pass a law that says Medicare and government worker health plans won't pay any more for drugs than the cheapest price given to foreign companies?

A nasty alternative would be to put a tax on sales to foreign buyers high enough to subsidize US buyers. That would be legal but I'm not sure the president or any politician can dictate what companies charge. (but don't get me going on rent control, etc... )

I believe politicians have blocked efforts to allow Medicare to negotiate with drug companies and both sides of the aisle are guilty of putting paid lobbyist interests ahead of those who elected them to office.
