Buying the dip works until it doesn't.

It can be especially harmful with stocks selling at extreme valuations.

I remember Wall Street Week with Luis Rukeyser when a guest asked him, perhaps when he was about to retire, what does he thinks means the markets are topping and his answer was "high volatility."

I sold some COHR from my ROTH at $113 to limit my exposure and take some incremental profits just a week ago. I thought about buying them back in AH yesterday $20 lower but I decided to wait and maybe get an actual 20 or 30% decline first. With most of these past corrections, they've been much larger than 20% which is why I do the long-term charts with price declines highlighted.

Currently COHR is 28% off its peak ATH at $113 made just yesterday!

IF it is another "V bottom" like we had in 2020 when some shares got stuck in my net at $19 and change, then I will kick myself for missing the $80s... but I've learned to be less aggressive near AT highs than near multi year lows.
