I think “funnymentals” - or, as TA enthusiasts used to call them “fundementals) - actually matter. One interesting example was the recent purchase of UNH shares by Warren Buffett, while the stock appeared to be breaking down. One would really have to know a lot about a company in order to have the confidence to buy it while it was crushing. It could be an advantage.

Nothing wrong with combining knowledge of fundamentals with TA. May help to get in on time - and not to overstay the welcome.

Gold…. On the daily, the consolidation in Gold since April looks like a narrowing Triangle. It should break out upwards. But… there is no such thing as 100%. If, instead, it starts taking out the recent minor lows - it may be best to stay away.
