What I do care about is how and by what means Monica wound up in the Pentagon and at what level of security clearance and what she did there. This is something the media should get their collective teeth into and not let go of until they shake out all the facts.
A good point. My understanding is that she did PR stuff, and organizational stuff for trips, sometimes going along. She was said not to have been the sharpest knife in the drawer, but, um, a willing and tireless worker.
I confess I'm puzzled by all the fuss being made over the 37 visits to the White House after she moved to the Pentagon. There really isn't any reason to think she was seeing Bill on every occasion, or even very often: presumbably he'd encouraged her removal from the White House precisely because he didn't want to see her. And the intern who says she told him about the affair claims that he met her, and often lunched with her, on these return trips. So Dee Dee Myers and George Stephanopoulos say they've not been back to the WH that often: but probably they didn't want to go, and Monica did. Desperately.
I have another perplexity to bring up: the Kathleen Willey story. Supposedly she was seen by Tripp as she left Bill's office looking disheveled, with her blouse hanging out of her skirt and her lipstick smeared. Only recently has it occurred to me that there's something badly wrong here. ANY woman would make repairs before venturing into a public area. Several centuries ago, when I was in college, we'd neck with our dates in their cars before going into the dorm; and before leaving the car you can bet we'd do a quick check in the mirror behind the sun visor. And we weren't gonna run into anyone but our friends. It's a natural thing to do. Bill has a bathroom; she coulda nipped in and fixed herself up. In her best interests, and his. Unless, of course, she for some reason wanted to be seen...
