I never use an AI as a substitute for search engine... OK, not completely true, occasionally I use Google's Gemini as a search engine but mostly because that's more convenient than using a incognito browser (I don't share any information or history with Google Gemini).

Use a tool for what it was meant for. Don't use a hammer to drive a screw into the 2x4. It could work out, but don't do it.

As a side note, when I want ChatGPT to summarize an article and it can't because it's behind a paywall, it goes to Redit and other sites to figure out what the article says. But in those cases I will copy and paste it.

My main use cases are for research. And for those, it works out just fine. It goes to Springer, SSRN, Hugging Face, etc to recover and discuss the latest research.
