Wasn't that the point of Blumenthal's questioning? It really is meaningless for you to speculate about this...the fact is only the parties involved know whether threats and/or lies were used to intimidate. Example, Blumenthal may have placed calls to a reporter about some "alledged" misconduct about one of the prosecutors, hell, he could have even floated a story about a family member of the prosecution team for all we know. All with the express purpose to have a "chilling" effect on the investigation. We just don't know, do we? In light of the fact that the White House had FBI files on hand for months, (and please don't forget Stephanopolous' warning that the WH might use releasing potentially embarrassing background on their adversaries) it appears to me the situation is ripe for all types of mischief, which although this method has been the successful modus operandi for the President, in this case, it constitutes a crime if it did in fact happen. bp
