No, Duncan, I did not see that article about Jim Guy Tucker, but it does not surprise me. For someone under the gun, so to speak, this week, Starr has looked confident and resolute. I think a lot of people around here focus way too much on the Monica part of the story, and who can blame them, because it is, um, very juicy or something. But the crimes I suspect were committed that are serious involve banking felonies in Arkansas, and obstruction of justice.

Duncan, I am really surprised after reading the entire thread tonight that two stories I saw on the evening network news were NOT discussed at all here. On ABC, there was quite a lengthy report that Kathleen Willey, the woman whose husband was committing suicide while Bill Clinton was allegedly groping her in the Oval Office when she came to ask for a full-time position, is ready to testify that a major Democratic fund-raiser, whose full name I did not get, tried on several occasions to dissuade her from testimony that might be damaging to the president.

And, on CBS, Dan Rather was reporting that his network had been told of a development in the White house strategy--they will now acknowledge that Clinton had a KISSING relationship with Monica Lewinsky, but not a sexual one, and feels horrible, shattered I think may have been the word used, about what this crisis has done to hurt his presidency and his family.

I have to say honestly, as a wife, that I would be more threatened if my husband had a kissing relationship with another woman than one where kneepads were required, because kissing is more intimate to me than non-reciprocal oral sex. Prostitutes don't kiss, for example. I wonder how Hillary feels about this.

Telling the truth slowly . . . while the entire country rolls around on the floor laughing? I mean, really, isn't credulity already strained enough by this scandal? It's getting really hard to suspend our collective disbelief. I was giggling so hard when I heard the new strategy that my daughter ran into the room to make sure I wasn't choking to death or anything.
