>>Christine, the deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill should be classed as a crime against humanity. Those that engineered it, and those that actively participated in this atrocity should be made to pay!

When Ed Koch was mayor of NYC and Cuomo was NY gov there was a mentally ill women who made her home on a busy sidewalk, often sitting in her own refuse. Her name was Billy Boggs (not actually, she just took the name of a local tv show host).

Koch had her picked up and taken to Bellvue for care. A local TV anchor, John Roland, endorsed Koch's efforts and said that it was about time someone helped that poor woman.

Enter the ACLU and other progressives: they sued the city and tried to get John Roland fired. Roland was put on leave and Koch was called a "nazi".

The ACLU won the case and soon they had Billy Boggs lecturing about homelessness at Harvard!

Epilogue: After they were done using her, the progressives dropped her and she was soon out of her apartment and back on the streets, off medication and sitting in her own waste.

And John Roland is back at his FOX anchor slot, never again expressing common sense when it conflicts with political correctness.
