Dwight,

Okay, I've read two of Rush Limbaugh's books and watched his show a couple of times. He comes across to me as subtly mean-spirited, particularly when contrasted with someone like P. J. O'Rourke who is also embraced by many conservatives.

I also wish to take up on behalf of the San Francisco Chronicle. I cannot by any stretch of the imagination call it a liberal read. On the contrary, I find it strikes a good balance between the extremes of conservativism and liberalism. When articles editorialize they are clearly labeled as such. I read the Chron daily and admire its middle of the road reporting and abstention from sensationalism or yellow journalism. I like the Chronicle also because it publishes reports which are in the public interest and which the public needs to know, but don't do a whole heap in attracting advertising revenue.

On Sundays the ultra-conservative SF Examiner combines publication with the SF Chronicle. I think this is a sensible course of action for big city newspapers, particularly in an area such as this where most of us could easily subscribe to five daily papers to get all the news which concerns our individual far flung corners of the SF Bay and Silicon Valley.

Holly
